October Is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and advances inclusive workplaces. In 2023, employment among adults with disabilities reached a modern-era high of 46%, yet a gap remains compared with adults without disabilities (79%) (UNH Center for Research on Disability, 2024). Employment is not only an economic issue—it is a mental health and belonging issue. Within a biopsychosocial lens, meaningful work (the social domain) supports routines, community connection, and recovery for people with IDD-MH (Institute on Disability, 2025). CSBMG partners with employers, families, and schools to promote job readiness, supported employment, and retention strategies that work in rural communities. Interested employers and job seekers can contact our team to learn about accommodations, coaching, and other supports as we continue to help those we serve live a life of purpose through employment.
