Increasing Access to Treatment for Older Adults with Mental Health and SUD
Erica Stokes| December 17, 2024
A critical challenge facing older adults with mental illness and substance use disorders is the lack of treatment. The recent report reveals that only 37% of older adults with mental illness receive treatment, and only 4% of those with SUD receive care (Oss, 2024). This gap in treatment is troubling, especially considering the growing number of older adults in the U.S. and the increased demand for mental health services.
At CSBMG, we are committed to bridging this gap by expanding access to mental health services for older adults. As the older population continues to grow, it is more important than ever to provide accessible, effective care that addresses both mental health and substance use issues. Through our expanded programs, we aim to reach more older adults and ensure they receive the necessary treatment and support to thrive in their later years.
