Join CSB of Middle Georgia in Celebrating National Rural Health Day: The Power of Rural
CSB of Middle Georgia is excited to participate in National Rural Health Day (NRHD) on Thursday, November 21, 2024. This year’s theme, “Advancing Maternal Health in Rural Communities,” shines a spotlight on the unique healthcare challenges in rural areas, especially around maternal health. NRHD celebrates the strength and resilience of rural communities, along with the dedicated individuals and organizations working to meet their unique healthcare needs.
Why National Rural Health Day Matters
For many rural residents, access to essential healthcare services can be a significant hurdle, with fewer providers, limited specialty care, and longer travel distances to reach hospitals or clinics (CDC Foundation, 2024). NRHD aims to build awareness of these disparities, recognize the contributions of those serving rural areas, and inspire solutions for greater access and quality in rural healthcare.
Join the “Power of Rural” Celebration
This year, NRHD invites everyone to support rural healthcare efforts through the “Power of Rural” campaign. This campaign includes a Promotional Toolkit, offering free, downloadable resources specifically designed for rural communities, hospitals, clinics, public health organizations, non-profits, and civic groups. These tools are perfect for anyone looking to raise awareness, plan community events, or simply spread the word about rural health and the efforts being made to close gaps in healthcare (CDC Foundation, 2024).
How You Can Make a Difference
The NRHD Promotional Toolkit offers valuable resources like social media graphics, event planning guides, and customizable content to help rural communities showcase their commitment to health and wellness. Organizations and community leaders are encouraged to download the toolkit, join the celebration, and participate in local events. To access the toolkit and view upcoming NRHD events, visit powerofrural.org/events.
Advancing Maternal Health in Rural Areas
The focus on maternal health in rural communities this year is timely and essential. Rural mothers and families often face significant challenges in accessing maternal care, with fewer healthcare facilities and providers available. This year’s theme highlights the need for improvements in maternal health services, including telehealth support, workforce training, and enhanced hospital care. Collaborative efforts between federal agencies, healthcare providers, and state and community organizations are already making strides toward healthier rural families (CDC Foundation, 2024).
CSB of Middle Georgia is proud to stand with rural communities this NRHD as we work together to ensure a brighter, healthier future. Join us by downloading the toolkit, sharing your support on social media, and attending events to celebrate and strengthen the “Power of Rural.”
Warm regards,
CSB of Middle Georgia
