Monday Motivation

How many times does someone give us a compliment or express gratitude and we simply brush it off.   Sometimes it is very difficult to have someone express compliments and we struggle to accept these kind words.

Truly hearing and receiving compliments feeds our soul and helps us to feel appreciated.  Someone has seen and appreciated the best in you or your actions.

Receiving compliments can be very difficult for some and can even be triggering for those who may have experienced some type of trauma. One theory is that they may be conflicted because someone sees something good in them and this may not be in alignment with past experiences.

It sometimes takes effort for someone to give us a compliment or show gratitude for something we may have done so the first thing we need to understand is that compliments generally come from a place of love and respect.

Trust that you are worthy of compliments and hear and receive them.   Express your thanks for the kind words and absorb the feeling.

On the other hand – we also need to accept criticisms when they are well-intentioned.   Of course there are people who criticize most anything but when we recognize something that someone says that comes from a constructive space, we are well served to hear and receive this as well.   Constructive criticism is meant to improve us and not to tear us down.

Receive both compliments and criticisms from those who have our best interests at heart – it not only helps us but nurtures the giver as well.
