Another skill that leads to becoming a top performer is clear communication. If we don’t understand each other – things can get confusing.
We have two ears and one mouth to listen twice as much. Listening to others (without preparing what you are going to say next) is key to clear understanding.
Clear communication ensure that everyone is on the same page. If we are unsure of expectations because the communication has not been clear – this leads to things not being completed.
A few things to avoid:
Not listening – be present. We all have many competing distractions but we must be present and hear what is being communicated.
Talking over others. Wait your turn. This is not only disrespectful, but also confuses messages because you may have spoken before the speaker has had a chance to fully communicate their message.
Do you know those who may only speak to “sound smart”? It’s great to have knowledge to share but be sure it is the appropriate time to pass along the information.
Be sure you are a clear communicator and this will help move the needle to becoming a TOP performer.
