Monday Motivation
It has been a busy couple of weeks in the Administration building but we are back to normal now (whatever normal is😊)….
I don’t know about you, but if someone doesn’t believe that I am capable of doing something, that inspires me to do whatever it takes to prove them wrong. We are all capable of doing much more than we believe we can – take a look at these examples.
- Jack Ma – rejected from Harvard 10 times, after college rejected for 30 jobs that he applied for (including one at KFC that was a pool of 24 applying for 23 jobs and he was the only one who was not chosen), he set up a company in Silicon Valley and could not convince investors to fund him but is now worth over $30M and is one of China’s most famous entrepreneurs.
- JK Rowling – Spent 6 years working on her first book as an unemployed single mother living on government assistance. Her publisher rejected her dream telling her that it was impossible to support herself writing children’s books. 12 publishers turned down her first Harry Potter book – she is now worth over $1B.
- Steve Jobs – dropped out of college after one semester, set up a computer company which he got fired from then returned to the same company as interim CEO and we know how that went.
- Michael Jordan – He was a 15 year old 5ft. 10in. boy that wanted to be a pro basketball player. He was cut from his high school basketball team because he “lacked the skills”… He went on to make 14 all star game appearances and win 6 NBA championships.
- Abraham Lincoln – Defeated for State, defeated for House Speaker, defeated for nomination to Congress, defeated for US Senate, defeated for nomination for Vice President, defeated again for US Senate – became President of the United States.
- Elvis Presley – Was told by the manager of the Grand Old Opry “You ain’t going nowhere son. You ought to go back to driving a truck”. Became known as the King of Rock and Roll.
- Walt Disney – His editor told him that he lacked imagination and had no good ideas. He received over 300 rejections from bankers because his animation ideas seemed bizarre.
- Oprah Winfrey – Became a co-anchor on a Baltimore tv station and got fired. Became a self-made billionaire.
- Harrison Ford – Told by the head of new talent on a set after his first film that he would never make it in show business so he should just forget about it. He has been in over 50 movies!
So if you feel rejected or are told that you can’t do something – don’t believe it. You can do anything you set your mind to.
