Real Talk, Real Support: Building Connection Through Conversation

Mental health struggles among men are often hidden beneath silence and societal expectations. This June, during Men’s Health Month, we’re joining national efforts to shift that narrative—and to say loudly that asking for help is a strength.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Real Stories Blog and Strong Talk Podcast offer valuable, relatable perspectives from men across the country—from construction workers to comedians, caregivers to clinicians. Whether it’s hearing Gary Gulman reflect on medication stigma or learning from Vic Armstrong about growing up in environments that discouraged emotional expression, the message is clear: real talk saves lives (AFSP, 2025).
At CSBMG, we encourage our community to explore these resources and reach out. Whether it’s by checking in on a friend, sharing your own experience, or connecting someone to a therapist, your action can make a difference. Let’s support the men in our lives with openness, compassion, and a commitment to change.
