Weathered But Strong: Supporting Georgia Farmers After Hurricanes

When hurricanes strike, Georgia’s farmers face tremendous losses—from damaged crops and equipment to displaced livestock. In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, UGA Extension and the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences partnered with the Georgia Farm Bureau to launch the Weathered But Strong hurricane relief fund (University of Georgia Extension, n.d.).

This fund aims to raise $1 million to provide direct financial support to farmers, filling gaps not met by federal aid. Donations help repair fences, replace livestock, and rebuild the backbone of Georgia’s agricultural economy. With 100% of contributions going directly to those in need, the fund offers a meaningful way for communities to stand with their farmers during hard times.
