Wednesday Wellness
We talk about how expensive things such as a fitness app or a gym membership are or how much a new pair of running shoes cost. Have you calculated the cost of not being healthy? Most have health insurance but with deductibles being high and out of pocket costs adding up, it makes sense to be healthy so you don’t have to worry about that. If we were all healthy – there might be some changes in the overall healthcare system.
Preventive care was one step that was put into place – free – to allow everyone to be able to obtain certain screenings annually for early detection and trending to keep an eye on our health but there is still a long way to go to remain healthy. We actually have to schedule AND go to those appointments. As a society we get busy and put things off and let’s face it – none of those exams are fun!!
Investing some time and money into your own health pays off in the end because staying active, eating healthy and reducing our stress are a few of the keys to doing our part to live a long and healthy life. Investments in health are not only money but investments of time are a must. We have to make the time to go to the gym, take a walk with your family, run before or after work, take a yoga class or insert other activities here……. It you are tight on money – also look at where your money goes. Is it being spent to keep you healthy or is it going toward unhealthy items. You can get a basic gym membership in most areas for $10.00 – $30.00 a month. You don’t need a gym though – find a nice, safe space to walk and just put on your walking shoes and go.
Invest in your health!
