CSBMG Meets U.S. Congressman Rick Allen, District 12, at the Quarterly Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce Meeting
At the August 8th Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce Community Meeting, Congressman Rick Allen delivered a compelling address that resonated with the local business community and farmers. Elected to represent Georgia’s 12th District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014, Congressman Allen has become a prominent voice for conservative values and economic growth. Drawing from his extensive experience as a small businessman, having founded R.W. Allen & Associates at the age of 25, he emphasized the critical need for policies that empower entrepreneurs and reduce federal regulatory burdens.
In his speech, Congressman Allen highlighted his work on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where he addresses crucial issues such as healthcare reform, energy independence, and cybersecurity. He also underscored his commitment to improving education and workforce opportunities through his role on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Rick’s dedication to agricultural policies, shaped by his eight years on the House Committee on Agriculture, further demonstrates his unwavering support for Georgia’s farmers and the state’s number one industry.
Rick Allen’s message was clear: the federal government must foster an environment where businesses can thrive without the heavy hand of overregulation. He spoke passionately about his efforts to champion legislation that supports economic development and job creation, reflecting his firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by business owners.
A graduate of Auburn University’s School of Architecture and Fine Arts, Congressman Allen also shared personal anecdotes from his life, including his deep roots in farming. Growing up as the son of a farmer, he developed a profound appreciation for agriculture and hard work. This background instilled in him the values of dedication and perseverance, which he carried into his professional and political career.
During the meeting, Erica Stokes, Community Relations Coordinator for Community Service Board of Middle Georgia, provided an elevator speech about Community Service Board of Middle Georgia’s Programs and Services, the current Co-Responder Initiative, and the progress of the new behavioral health crisis center. Erica exchanged contact information with Brinsley Thigpen from District 12, and Congressman Allen agreed to appear at future meetings if his schedule permits, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to engaging with and supporting rural communities.
