In Remembrance of Marion Alston

The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia honors the life and legacy of Marion Alston, PMHNP-BC, DNP, a dedicated healthcare professional whose unwavering commitment to mental health and neurology touched countless lives. Born and raised in Germany, Marion’s journey in healthcare began with her graduation from Stadt-Krankenhaus Fürth in 1981, where she became a registered nurse. After moving to the United States with her husband, a retired Army soldier, she obtained her RN licensure in 1988 and began a career that exemplified dedication, compassion, and excellence.
Marion devoted years to serving others, first as a Mental Health Assistant at Charter by the Seas (now Saint Simons by the Sea) and later as an ICU nurse at Southeast Georgia Health System. Her passion for advancing patient care led her to pursue further education, earning her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree from Georgia Southern University in 2011. She worked in neurology from 2011 to 2016, completing consultations for stroke, seizure, and mental status changes while providing exceptional care to those in need.
In 2016, Marion joined Hopestill Health in its early stages, embracing a new opportunity offered by Dr. Marlene Zetzer-Shivers and Dr. Bill Shivers. Her dedication to psychiatric care grew even stronger as she completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification in 2018 and later earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2019.
Marion’s legacy extends beyond her impressive credentials—she was a compassionate provider, a trusted colleague, and a steadfast advocate for mental health. Her commitment to patient care and her ability to connect with those she served made a lasting impact on the CSB of Middle Georgia community and beyond.
Her kindness, expertise, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The CSB of Middle Georgia joins the Hopestill Health family in remembering Marion Alston for the incredible life she led and the profound difference she made in the lives of so many.
